A dynamometer is used to measure the power and torque of any rotary engine or the amount of force required to rotate any mechanism. Eddycarnet 190 kW dynamometer of Dina company is an absorption dynamometer and is used for all passenger car engine applications.

Basic principles of dynamometer operation

There are two main parts in dynamometers, one part is called the rotor and the central axis, which is connected to the motor with a coupling. The second part is called the stator or the fixed body, which is completely suspended and is connected to the dynamometer by means of a specific arm.

Using a medium fluid or electromagnetic braking force, the rotor is held by the stator and the stator reaction force is measured using a dynamometer. The amount of torque is calculated from the product of force multiplication along the length of the arm.

This brake is an eddy current brake. This dynamometer is only suction and works based on the eddy current law. In this dynamometer, the stator part is wound and is excited by electricity and produces a magnetic field .
